Chardonnay,
2001, Melville, Santa Rita Hills
Intriguingly complex aromas of soft tropical fruits (banana,
papaya) coupled with elements of spice and slate. An oily
texture in the mouth follows, marked by flavors of sweet herbs
and ripe apple and pear flesh. The wine delivers a very complete
entry, evolution and finish.

Chardonnay,
2001, Mount Carmel, Santa Rita Hills
Somewhat reticent aromas of spearmint, resin, minerals and
honeysuckle set the tone for this bottling. On the palate,
a very polished and rich texture follows, which supports flavors
of sesame, amaretto and mineral oil.

Chardonnay,
2001, Sweeney Canyon, Santa Rita Hills
Farmed by the Marks Family, this 18-acre Chardonnay vineyard
near Lompoc has been a very special place for Greg and Steve
since Brewer - Clifton's inception.
Opulent aromas of pineapple, pear, lychee and sweet meyer
lemon immediately explode from the glass. Exotic flavors of
aloe, banana and burnt sugar carry on through the palate.
A huge wine in the mouth with tremendous richness and an endless
finish.

Pinot
Noir, 2001, Clos Pepe, Santa Rita Hills
Spicy strawberry, raspberry and rhubarb in the nose. In the
mouth, flavors are deceptively more meaty and savory in nature,
ranging from umami to soy. Very firm front mouth impression
with a well-integrated spicy finish.

Pinot
Noir, 2001, Rozak Ranch, Santa Rita Hills
Randy and Sarah Rozak own and farm this very special 8-acre
vineyard a few miles back off highway 246 behind Clos Pepe.
The Rozak’s commitment to their site is admirable and
Brewer - Clifton anticipates a great relationship in the years
to come. This particular block is mostly Pommard clone planted
in 1995.
Classic strawberry and earthy spiciness matched with intriguing
minerality. Similar restrained flavors carry through on the
palate. In the mouth, the wine is very voluptuous and feminine
with fine, chalk-like tannins.

Pinot
Noir, 2001, Melville, Santa Rita Hills
Incredible richness and density set the tone for this amazingly
complex bottling. Dark fruits, cocoa powder, prosciutto and
violets initially emerge followed by sweet berries, floral
essence and smoked meats. By far Brewer - Clifton's most plush
and decadent Pinot bottling of incredible concentration.
